Picked up a Suzuki Vitara at Budapest Ferenc Liszt airport. The desk was near Terminal 2B arrivals, paperwork took fifteen minutes, and we were on Route 4 heading to Eger by noon. The part-time 4WD handled gravel tracks in Bukk National Park without issue. Returned the vehicle at the same location after eight days - no problems.
Booked a Dacia Duster for a week in January. Collected it from a location in Belvaros-Lipotvaros district. We drove to Pecs via M6, then looped through Villany wine region and back through Szekesfehervar. Snow was light that week, but the AWD gave confidence on minor roads. Final payment accepted in cash at pick-up, as stated in the voucher.
We took a Toyota RAV4 hybrid from BUD and drove straight to Lake Balaton. Covered Tihany Peninsula, Keszthely, and the northern shore villages. Route 71 offers excellent views. The rental company delivered the vehicle to our hotel near the Danube, which saved us a trip to the airport. Fuel economy on the hybrid was impressive across 600 km.
Rented a compact SUV for a trip to Debrecen and Hortobagy National Park. Everything went smoothly except I had not realised the vignette for motorways was a separate purchase. Bought a 10-day pass at a Shell station on M3 for about the cost of a meal. Otherwise, the process was straightforward and the vehicle was clean.
Collected a Skoda Karoq at the airport and spent five days exploring Gyor and the Danube Bend. Crossed into Slovakia for a day trip to Bratislava - we had notified the rental company during booking and there was no issue at the border. The vehicle had plenty of boot space for luggage and camera gear. Returned it with a full tank as required.
Picked up a Mitsubishi Outlander in February for a winter drive to the Matra Mountains. We stayed in Matrafured and drove up to Kekes, the highest point in Hungary. Roads were clear but icy in places, and the AWD system handled it well. 4Drive sent the voucher with all contact details, and the local company was easy to reach when we had a question about snow chains.

The compact size made parking in District V simple. We used an OMV station near the M0 for fuel before returning. Smooth process from start to finish.
Rented a Jeep Compass for a two-week tour covering Szeged, Pecs, Lake Balaton, and Eger. We added a second driver during booking, which was worth it for sharing the longer motorway stretches on M5 and M7. The vehicle was inspected carefully at both pick-up and drop-off, with every mark noted in the agreement. Highly practical setup for a varied itinerary.
